Club Manager
About Racquet Club
Racquet Club is one of Australia's fastest-growing padel and pickleball businesses, with venues across Sydney, Canberra and the Gold Coast — and an ambitious national expansion underway. Our clubs are more than courts: they're social destinations built around great play, great food and drink, and a community that keeps coming back.
Our Canberra venue is one of our flagship sites, and we're looking for an exceptional Club Manager to take it to the next level.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who lives and breathes hospitality. You'll own the day-to-day operation of the venue, courts, bar, events and team — with full accountability for the member experience and the venue's commercial performance.
You'll ensure the venue is always operating at the highest standard, taking ownership of staff rosters, inventory management, opening and closing procedures, venue presentation, cleanliness, and the overall efficiency of daily operations. You'll lead by example, support your team on the floor, and ensure every guest enjoys an exceptional experience from the moment they arrive.
Beyond day-to-day operations, you'll foster a vibrant club culture by delivering experiences that bring people together. You'll work closely with the coaching and events teams to create leagues, tournaments, social mixers, corporate events, and community initiatives that reflect what members want and keep them coming back.
We're specifically looking for someone with a strong hospitality background. The winning formula for our venues is a hospitality-first mindset: warm service, a buzzing bar and social spaces, memorable events, and operational excellence. Racquet sport experience is a bonus, not a requirement — we can teach you padel; we can't teach you hospitality instincts.
What You'll Do
Venue leadership & operations
- Run the venue end-to-end: opening/closing, rostering, presentation standards, cleanliness, facility maintenance, health and safety, and compliance (including liquor licensing obligations)
- Lead, recruit, train and develop a team of full-time and casual staff, building a high-energy service culture
- Manage inventory across the venue, ensuring stock levels, equipment, and operational supplies are maintained at all times
- Own the P&L: labour costs, COGS, revenue performance and weekly reporting to the Group Manager
Hospitality & F&B
- Drive the bar and food offering — menu execution, stock control, supplier management and margin performance
- Set and maintain a genuinely great standard of service across every touchpoint, from check-in to last drinks
Programming & revenue growth
- Build and optimise the weekly programming calendar — social leagues, tournaments, coaching, corporate events and functions — with a particular focus on driving weekday utilisation
- Identify opportunities to create new events and experiences that reflect the interests of the local community and keep members engaged
- Grow corporate and group bookings in partnership with our corporate sales team
- Activate sponsor partnerships and in-venue promotions
Community & member experience
- Be the face of the club: know the regulars, welcome the newcomers, and build a community people are proud to belong to
- Manage member feedback, reviews and local marketing initiatives
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve operational efficiency, member satisfaction and venue profitability
About You
- 5+ years in hospitality management — venue manager, bar/restaurant GM, club manager or similar, with proven experience running a team and a P&L
- A natural host: high energy, warm, and obsessive about the customer experience
- Strong commercial instincts — you understand labour models, margins, and how to fill quiet trading periods
- Experienced with rostering, POS and booking systems; comfortable with reporting and admin
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills, able to prioritise competing demands and maintain high operational standards in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and pride in maintaining an organised, well-presented and efficiently run venue
- A hands-on leader who enjoys being on the floor, supporting the team and leading by example
- Current RSA (ACT) and eligibility to hold liquor licensing responsibilities; First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Available to work a flexible roster including evenings and weekends
- An interest in sport, fitness or racquet sports is a plus — genuine curiosity is essential
What We Offer
- Competitive salary package
- A genuine growth pathway — we're expanding nationally, and our best venue managers will grow with us into multi-site and group roles
- Autonomy to run your venue like it's your own
- Free court time, staff discounts, and a workplace that's actually fun
- The chance to help build one of Australia's most exciting sport and hospitality brands
